RANKIN | HUNGER MAGAZINE 02 | NEW WORK

Last Tuesday saw the launch party for the second issue of Rankin's new bi-annual magazine "Hunger" and with it a website redesign. As in the first issue, I collaborated with the photographer on a series of portraits — this time focusing on couture designers. Sticking with the theme of couture, I took a more simple, classic approach to the portraits this time round as opposed to the abstract imagery previously in issue 01.

Above is my portrait of the one and only Sir Paul Smith in it's original DPS layout. I did 7 portraits and a type treatment in all which you can get your mitts on, along with a wealth of content covering film, music and fashion, in the latest issue.

RANKIN | THE HUNGER MAGAZINE

20 years after co-founding Dazed & Confused, last week the first issue of photographer and publisher Rankin's new magazine The Hunger was released. I was asked to collaborate with Rankin on a series of 10 portraits for the launch issue. I was also photographed by the man himself and interviewed for a feature in the mag. Definitely a unique experience going through the whole wardrobe and styling process - especially as I had no idea I was going to be actually filmed for the interview.

Creative Review kindly featured a good chunk of the portraits last week. You can also see some behind the scenes shots of the day I went in for the shoot on the Occupy Blog.

There's a whole host of interviews and short films from the worlds of art, film and fashion on The Hunger Mag's site for you to feast your eyes on and, of course, you can get the magazine itself in all good newsagents now. I'll update my site with the full set of images when it relaunches in the new year. In the mean time I'm looking forward to working again with Rankin on the second issue due out next year.

IAN WRIGHT - LWL 70 - KEMISTRY GALLERY

As mentioned earlier in the week, the next show in which I'll be exhibiting "LWL 70" will open at Kemsitry Gallery this Thursday. Once I saw the print for the David Lynch film "Eraserhead" that Mr Ian Wright has produced for the show I had to post it. Brilliant stuff - looking forward to seeing it in the flesh on Thursday. I have a feeling I'll be going home with a few prints from this show! (image via Creative Review)

OCCUPY INTERVIEWS VINCENT OLIVER — LoAF RECORDINGS

What seems an age ago now I worked with Non-Format for the very first time (something I was very nervous about) on what evolved to be their award winning series of EP releases for LoAF recordings. Above is my offering. One of the main forces behind the record label, Vincent Oliver, spoke to WeOccupy recently in an interesting and candid interview about how the label began, where it's going and their relationship with the formidable Non-Format. Click the link below to read Vincent in all his glory.

JONATHAN ZAWADA / INTERVIEW

Above is a nice little interview with the incredibly talented Australian artist/designer/illustrator Jonathan Zawada from a recent exhibition in LA. As a long time fan it was interesting to hear him speak about the process, especially when going to the lengths of writing algorithms to generate work. Check out his site and prepare to want to give up.

SONG OF THE WEEK #19 / I WAS A MAN / JAPE / M&E

This week's SOTW is a double whammy. On a recent trip to Dublin for the fantastic OFFSET creative festival we had the good fortune of drinking with the talented couple behind the artwork for "Jape" (above). Emelie Lidström and Matthew Bolger, otherwise known as M&E, have been the force behind all of the band's artwork and their aesthetic has grown and refined alongside the sound of the band to form a great back catalogue with some fantastic moments - one of my favourites being the cover for "I was a Man" above. Definitely a studio to keep your eye on!
